9th Infantry Division — World War II — Alresford and Winchester, England
The Winchester Guildhall
Soldiers who were billetted in Alresford and its environs would occasionally take liberty passes to nearby Winchester and London.

Pictured here is the Winchester Guildhall, which hosts changing exhibitions of sculpture, ceramics and modern works of art. The Guildhall was pictured in Joseph B. Mittelman's Eight Stars to Victory: A History of the Veteran Ninth U.S. Infantry Division, but not named.

In Eight Stars to Victory, the Guildhall's clock shows 2:10 p.m. or 14:10 hours in military time. When I took this photo, oddly the clock was displaying 2:20 p.m. or 14:20 hours.
